Energy Revolution members worked together to increase sustainable travel to Shambala Festival this year.
Supplier member, S2VS, took their EV charging service to Shambala Festival this year. It was their first trial at a music festival, with the Shambala team and audience once more leading the way in pioneering new environmental initiatives and willingness to champion innovation.
“Shambala is powered by 100% renewable energy. As part of our strategy to reduce transport-related emissions it was a natural next step to offer electric car charging, using the renewable energy generated onsite.” Chris Johnson (Operations Director, Shambala Festival)
The capacity to charge Electric Vehicles at the event makes travelling electric far more attractive, saving the hassle of finding and stopping at recharge services offsite with a car full of tired festival goers wanting to get home.
How did it work? S2VSsection-off a designated area of the car park specifically for EV Charging and parking. EV car owners simply drop their car and they do the rest, charging, security, reparking – all taken care of by the team.
“Why shouldn’t EV drivers benefit from a few perks for doing the right thing by the environment?? They have the right to driver their own car, van or motorhome to any event, safe in the knowledge they can charge on-site in order to make the journey home as safe and as short as possible.“ S2VS UK
S2VS are already exploring completely green & sustainable solutions for next season, with battery storage and solar PV playing a major role in how the electricity to charge the vehicles is generated, stored and utilised.
